What % of people leave a website because it takes too long to load?

Predolgo nalaganje strani - koliko % uporabnikov jo zaradi tega zapusti

The ideal loading time is between 0 and 2 seconds, but 3 seconds are still considered acceptable. Anything longer, however, quickly increases the likelihood that customers will leave the website.

If the website takes too long to load, customers don't wait for it to finish loading.

Instead, they leave and find a faster, more responsive website.

According to Google research, the probability that the user will leave the website (bounce rate) increases:

for 32%, if the webpage takes up to 3 seconds to load,

for 90%, if it takes up to 5 seconds,

for 123%, if it takes up to 10 seconds.

Page loading time is measured from the moment a customer clicks on a link to the moment the website is fully loaded. It is measured in seconds and is one of the performance indicators of a website.

Despite the importance of fast loading times, there are some obstacles that can considerably slow down a website. The most prominent causes are:

  • poorly written code,

  • poorly optimized content (e.g. images and videos),

  • inefficient caching,

  • bad hosting,

  • old plugins.
